This work in progress is the story of native elder Vi Hilbert and her quest to heal a sick world. Not long after the attacks of September 11, 2001, Vi Hilbert a nationally respected spiritual elder of the Upper Skagit tribe, had a vision. She was sensitive to the extremely negative “sick” actions in the world. She wondered if she could possibly participate in any action that might offer a healing antidote. After many hours of spiritual introspection, she knew what she was called to do. “Music is the healer,” she claimed, “and not just any music—high brow, classical music is the answer. So she commissioned a symphony giving the recorded music of Chief Seatlh to composer Bruce Rydell. The symphony was performed by the Seattle Symphony. We are in the fundraising and editing part of this PBS documentary.
